If I had known grandchildren were this much fun, I would have had them first!
I've been a grandma for over 23 years now. These little people - oops! I need to clarify...I mean bigger people - have brought hope, life, and joy to my world. What a fun season of life to see life through the eyes of a child again, but not to have the 24/7 responsibility!
I live in a lovely new neighborhood in the Indianapolis, IN, area. After fifty years of marriage, my patient husband and I downsized/relocated last summer to be near our son and his family. What a great decision! We love it.
While we spent a lifetime in schools as an elementary teacher(me!) and as a guidance counselor(Ger), we raised two decent kids who married two great people, and now we have five awesome grown up grandkids!
Who am I?
What do I like to do?
My husband and I love to explore the US in our motorhome. We visit grandchildren and friends, explore national parks and presidential museums, and anything else that catches our eye. Last winter we wandered to California to be near our daughter and family - 85 days and 4600 miles! It's good to be home now.
Why do I write?
I have always been attracted to words - words in something I'm reading or words in something I'm writing. I've published handbooks, resource manuals, newsletters, and magazine articles for my various job positions. My most recent project is a handy book called DIY Camp Grandma: a handbook to create an extraordinary experience for grandchildren - updated and expanded! It Is available from Redemption-press.com, Amazon, com, Barnes&Noble.com.
Look for weekly blogs about my journey as a grandma sprinkled with pictures, quotes, and activities. I'll share planning ideas & organizational tips useful to Camp Grandma plus random bits of life. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter too. It comes to your email on the weekend with photos and tips valuable for planning a Camp Grandma and for life with kids!
